Job Title:                            Executive Director of Learning Services

 

Contract Days:           240-day; July 1st through June 30th.

 

Salary:                                 Administrative Salary and work year to the current schedule

 

Job Summary:

The Executive Director of Learning Services is a highly public position representing the Superintendent’s Office and the District with the highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Grounded in the MLSS Framework, the Executive Director provides innovative, transformative, and supportive leadership to District School Site Principals. This position is fully engaged with the local community and has high visibility at district and community events.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but is not an exhaustive list:

  • Complies with approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains highest level of confidentiality.
  • Assists the Superintendent in achieving the district strategic plan related to learning services.
  • Oversee and Evaluate School Site Principals and Learning Services Departments, including: Curriculum & Instruction, Federal Programs& Equity Services, Out-of-School Time programs, Community Schools, and Counseling Services.
  • High level of competency in designing, creating, implementing, and teaching others in a systems approach to school improvement.
  • Deep understanding of MLSS and experience implementing the layers.
  • Successful experience creating and implementing a NM DASH 90-Day Plan.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on coaching and development of adults.
  • Coordinate support services with federal programs, instructional applications, and the Superintendent.
  • Lead and support district level administrators, as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Lead and develop school principals providing innovative leadership and hands-on support.
  • Manages, reviews, monitors, and provides feedback on school principal strategic and action plans.
  • Ensures that priorities and needs are clearly communicated to key stakeholders, thereby ensuring that key district staff understands the critical role they play in achieving sustainable change.
  • Assist the Superintendent in the general organization and administration of the schools, managing goal setting priorities, and in the preparation of reports, recommendations, and documents requested by the Board of Education and Public Education Department.
  • Respond to parent questions, concerns, and complaints for issues relating to learning services and student disciplinary proceedings.
  • Attend all Board of Education meetings.
  • Work in a collaborative manner.
  • Represent the district in an exemplary manner at community functions, events, and with groups who engage with the district.
  • Participate in school advisory, business, and community groups and activities; serve with other educational leaders on work groups, committees, and project action teams that directly support schools.
  • Evaluate site principals, along with the Superintendent.
  • Maintains a familiarity with current educational issues through a process of ongoing personal development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in education or related field.
  • Valid New Mexico Administrative License as required by the State of New Mexico.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience with increasing responsibility in public school administration and supervision.
  • Knowledgeable of both state and federal regulations related to the areas of federal programs, and assessments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
